I bought everything and it got here today. I put it together with the best of my ability and the bios is beeping at me. I referred to the bios manual and the beep that I'm getting is not in there. I'm getting a BEEP.....BEEP.....(long pause).....repeat. I can enter bios and look around but the beeping continues. I looked at the post but it doesn't report any errors. I have built quite a few systems and never had problems hooking stuff up. Does anyone have any idea what's going on :(?

I'll try that stuff when I get home. Near the "top" of the motherboard where the 2x4 12v ATX connector should go, there is a 2x8 pin connector with a piece of black plastic covering a 2x4 portion of it.

If you go to the following link and click on the image of the motheboard, you can see the black piece of plastic on the connector that is
diagonal up right from the processor holder:

http://usa.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=179&l3=815&l4=0&model=2746&modelmenu=1

I took that piece of plastic off and plugged an 8-pin power supply in there. Should I have just left it on and plugged a 2x4 pin
in there ?

2x4=8 correct.
To clarify termanology, the 8pin connector you pluged in is the right connector.
If you look closely you will see it is 2- 4pin connectors that slide, couple together to form one 8pin connector.

Yeah, I had a brainfart. 2x4 is 8 :).

I did check that out and it was reading 93.5F. I did hear one of the fans blowing really hard, slowing down, blowing hard, etc..
It was also reading the cpu fan RPMs, so I don't think that's the problem :(. I was never good at applying thermal paste, so
I let one of the IT guys at work do it. He put quite a but on there. Perhaps 1.5 x a pencil eraser in size. Is that too much?
The OCZ page says use about the size of a grain of rice :(.

The amount he put on is too much, yes, but your temps seem acceptable. (pretty good actually...if my calcumilations are correct that's somewhere in the 34 celsius range).

Well, that's the temperature right after it's turned on :). I might have to re-do it. I'm home now
but I still haven't managed to get it to stop beeping at me. I can't even tell what's beeping :??: ...

Yeah it does. It can also see the RPMs in the bios. I tried taking out all the RAM and to my surprise, a completely
different beeping tone came out. So I thought it might not be the motherboard speaker beeping. I removed the
mobo speaker and the "computer" still beeps! It's a really low toned beep. I put only two sticks of RAM in,
unplugged all the hard drives and the cd drive. Still beeps. I'm pretty confused, to say the least.

The thermal paste is not oozing out, as far as I can see. What else can be making that obnoxious sound? I don't *think* it's the motherboard. The only other components are the cooler master v10, gtx 295 and the PSU. I'm really getting discouraged.

I am almost totally convinced it's the cooler master v10 beeping at me. It says nothing about it in the manual and it says nothing about it (that I can find) on cooler master's website! I removed the gtx 295. The only thing connected is the cpu cooler and the power supply. Ugh...pisses me off.

Yeah it's definitely not a squealing sound. It's a definite long beep. It comes at regular intervals. If anyone has any ideas please reply.... I'm stumped.

Take the Motherboard out of the case and set it on cardboard (non-conductive material) with CPU, PSU, GPU, HDD, 1 stick of Ram ( try slot 4) plug in the Monitor and jump the PWR pins momentarily with a metalic object, flat blade screw driver works, and report back.

While the MB is out check that the HSF is securly attached to the MB, the hold down pins are all the way through and tabs and spread out.

jsc, the video card is completely removed :). The noise is still there. HOWEVER, I just found out what it is. The CPU cooler is making the beep! I posted on the cooler master forums and one of the cooler master beta testers said that some of the V10's have bad thermal sensors attached to the TEC. When the sensor is bad, the thing beeps loud and crazy. Newegg is going to replace it for me *sigh*. Thank you all very much for helping me troubleshoot this problem.
