Here is what I have setup so far:

Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition 965 Nehalem 3.2GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor ($999)
ASUS Crosshair II Formula AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 780a SLI HDMI ATX ($249)
x2 BFG Tech BFGEGTX2951792E GeForce GTX 295 1792MB 896 (448 x 2)-bit GDDR3 in SLI ($1000)
x2 Intel® X25-E Extreme High Performance Solid State Disk (SSD) - 32GB, SLC flash technology, 2.5” form factor, SATA (3.0Gb/s) ($800) in RAID-0
Hanns·G HW-173DBB Black 17" 8ms Widescreen LCD Monitor ($109)
x6 WINTEC AMPO 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) ($200)

I use this computer a lot! I play a lot of Zoo Tycoon 2, and after a few hours all the animals on screen really hamper my previous computers performance. I feel I need the 6GB of RAM because a lot of times I find myself with like 10 different IE windows open, Outlook Express and Winamp. I'm hoping this computer will be futureproof and last about 6-8 years.

Please offer any advice. I was thinking of getting a Blue-Ray Burner for making music CDs also.

Right Zoo Tycoon........
What youve got here is a Crysis KILLER.
but you can play zoo tycoon if thats what floats your boat.
that MOBO is not compatible with that CPU, with your budget just go the ASUS Rampage 2 i7 mobo
get the i7 920 as you can overclock easily to better than the 940 and the 965 is overkill.
that ram is not compatible, get a triple channel kit 3x2Gb such as the G-Skill 1333mhz or 1600mhz kits.
Just get one SSD for your apps and OS
and then get a couple of caviar black 1TB HDD,s for storage.
Get a much bigger screen if you want those GPU's to work well. like 30inch
PSU i think youll need around 1200w for that although not 100% SURE
Get a big case like the HAF 932 which is really good i have one (love it)
You can get a BLu-RAY drive but also get a DVD burner because you wouldnt be making Blu-Ray music discs unless you wanted to back-up all your music.

i'm just going to make TWO comments

1. you're building a 4000$ comp to play zoo tycoon where a 600$ build would be more than enough

2.you're spending 1000$ with dual GTX295's to play zoo tycoon, on a 17'' monitor. If you're going for 1000$ on gfx cards, you BETTER be using a 30'' inch and NO less.

i rest my case.

...you have another thread open for an i7 build already. Why another one?

I can't believe there are people that have posted serious replies to this. The 17" monitor and Zoo Tycoon comments give it away.

Don't feed the trolls, folks.
