Compatibility of 9400gt

i have a dual core mother board of a psu of 385w...will nvidia 9400gt run smoothly on my board...the card needs a minimum supply of a 300-350w

Well that video card will likely work fine in your rig but I wont really say it will run games smoothly. It might run cod4 at 800x600 low settings smoothly. If you have a widescreen lcd for gaming you need a little more gpu than that. The 9500gt or 8600gt doesnt need a pci-e connector but is much better than "just one notch up the list" There are also some very good ATI cards that are low power budget cards. Toms gives the 4670 best bang for the buck in the low proce range.

If you are upgrading the card to do some casual gaming, the 9400 is poor choice as discoduck said. Follow his advice.
