I do not need nor want a local area network and would like
to perminitly unistall, as the dial up keeps me off the
internet, if i unstall it he (pc) puts it back in. and my
system locks up or hangs is there a work around on
this?????

If you are not using it, physically remove the ethernet adapter
-or-
If unable to remove it, disable the device. You should find "disable" as an
option when you right click on this object.
