i while ago i built my first custom pc and it worked well for a while.
lately i've been getting blue screen errors
specs are:
windows xp pro sp3 32bit
amd phenom x4
ocz reaper memory (2x2gb)
Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H
Seagate ST3500320AS (2 running raid 0)
ATI radeon 3850
win power atx-450

errors are:
0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x8AA46020, 0x8AA46194, 0x805D297C)
and
0x0000007A (0xE1FEE930, 0xC000000E, 0xBF91D5A3, 0x802A1860)
they happen now whenever i log on and sometimes when windows is booting
tested RAM and graphics card. errors still occur without them. tried wiping harddrives together and separately using DBAN. neither will wipe and it seems unlikely they both have bad sectors (what DBAN seems to think it is).

ok well now i cannot get onto windows so can i install updates to fix it (if there are any) another way or is my pc doomed? and also the hdd's are detected and it starts to boot xp and from what i read it was a drive detection issue.

if BIOS can see the hard drives you can update the firmware

check the seagate site for the update

the data on the disc's might be ok , but you must do the update because it gets worse and once BIOS no longer sees the drive theyre scrap

If you've used DBAN on these drives then the data is gone m8... We use this at the local computer re-use project to wipe all drives of potentially sensitive customer data before we re-use them in machines we sell on.

If you han't been so quick at using DBAN on them and googled the symptoms first, then you'd have seen that the data on the drives was perfectly safe... All you needed to do was to update the firmware as Outlander has mentioned here and as a prior article on THG has lso mentioned.

>_< no what im saying is im unable to use DBAN, it wont run. ive checked microsoft site many times and tried all things mentioned (within my power anyway) for these errors. my point is i cannot wipe or reformat the drives to reinstall an os. how would i go about installing a firmware update through bios?. also i dont have data i care about which isnt backed up so data loss doesnt matter
