Hi guys...newbie question ahead...

I was reading about Intel's DG45ID...and I looked deeper into its chipset...

http://www.intel.com/Products/Desk [...] erview.htm

Somewhere there it says

"In addition to video, the IntelĀ® G45 Express Chipset delivers optimized 3D graphics performance and support for Microsoft DirectX* 10, Shader Model* 4.0 and OpenGL* 2.0. These graphics enhancements deliver the performance and compatibility you need for entertaining, everyday gameplay for the most popular game titles. The IntelĀ® G45 Express Chipset includes support for the latest PC operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Vista*."

Does it mean it enhances graphics generated by a video card? Or was it talking about the onboard video 'card'?

Thanks in advance for clarifying this...

Onboard video. Only difference in motherboard specs is pci-e 1.0 or 2.0 for separate video cards. Amd is working on having the graphics built into the cpu chip. This will reduce costs, but not necessarily improve video performance.

New boards are pci-e 2.0. The only difference the mobo makes is if your using more than one video card.

Some run 16x and 8x some run 16x and 16x and some run 16x and 4x.

If your running just one card, the mobo makes no difference.

Agreed. Better mobo = better overclocking / features. Like firewire and stuff like that
