Hi,

Posted under this problem new build but have isolated the PSU as the culprit so reposting here.

Recently built a new system with some old parts;

Proc: Core i7
MB: GB EX-58
RAM: 6GB DDR3 (1333)
Video: nVidia GT 8800 (from old system)
HDD: Seagate SATA 320 GB (from old system)
PSU: Amacrox Freestyle AX750
OS: Windows 7

Had some problems with random reboots when idling or under light using (browsing etc) but completely stable in game. Tried reinstalling XP and would reboot in the install phase (i.e. after setup phase).

After swapping out many componets from a friends system, finally tried my friends PSU - CodeGen 450W (from a Shaw case) - and is working absolutely fine.

Has anyone had problems like this with the Amacrox causing reboots when idling but fine under load? I am using a 4-pin 12 V power connector in the 8-pin ATX power socket (#2).

Greatly appreciative of any help people may have.

I've been building pc's since 1996 and never heard of Amacrox.

This should tell you something. Why would you build a high end i7 system with a crap psu? Your just asking for hardware failure.

Amacrox is made by FSP, so they're better than some.
