Static/Beeping Background Noise

Just built my computer a few weeks ago and ever since the start there has ben a static noise accompanied by occasional beeps when using headphones. I'm using the realtek hd onboard audio of a gigabyte ep45 - ud3p. Is there anything I can to about this and is it sign that my onboard audio is screwed up?
