Hello,

I have an athlon 64 x2 3800 cpu and i would like to upgrade it, my mobo m2n68-la (ivy) only supports up to 64 x 4800 cpu, it it worth the $75 to upgrade the PC, will I see a significant increase in performance? Your advice is appeciated.

Thanks

Problem here is, this is an HP ro Compaq, right?
If so, I don't think overclocking is much of an option (it would surprise me if you could)
I believe that the 4800+ is about the highest speed this board supports, but you need to contact or search HP support to confirm.
What exactly do you use your PC for, and what/where are you wanting to see this speed increase? The new processor might help, or it might not show much difference at all, depending on what you are doing.

Hi, Well I do some gaming, I have Nvidia 9600 Gt OC 512 mb card, and 3 gigs of PC5300 ram with 32-bit vista OS. it's a compaq sr5130nx, the 4800 is the highest speed it supports. Where would I see the speed increases?

Thank you

It's not the 939 socket, it's the 940 AM2 socket, the CPU for the 939 is $240, why the huge price difference anyway?

They haven't made socket 939 cpu's for about 3 years now. So they are nearly impossible to find, except for places like ebay, and when you do find one, they are spendy. Definetly takes the wind out of upgrading the ol socket 939 board if you have one of them! (which I see you do not) You can buy board/CPU/memory for only a very few bucks more.
