On this motherboard I have one GTX 295, (no envisioned SLI setup) seated in the (Slot 1 - primary) PCI-E 2.0x16 slot, which due to its size blocks the PCI-Ex1 slot in which I would like to put a TV tuner card. In the PCI slot I have a sound card. If I can move the GTX 295 to either the PCI-e 2.0x4 slot or the PCI-e 2.0x8 slot, the TV tuner card can go in. If the GTX can be relocated to either of the other PCI-e 2.0 slots, will the graphics card work just as well as it would in the Slot 1-primary slot. If it can work as well why do they call this slot 1 primary ? If not, any other options please. I appreciate your time and response. Thanks.

No! Here is the layout for mobo slots: PCI Express 2.0 x16 4 (@ x16/x8/x4/x8). But you can use a PCI-E 1x slot in any of the other x4 or x8's slots if that is any help to you. They call the Slot 1 as Primary since it will do full 16x speed.

Yes I necropost but in case of someone else relying on this info:

Yes you CAN put your GFX card in the x8 PCI-E 2.0 slot ! It does NOT absolutely require the x16 slot. Reason being is the data bus bandwidth on the x16 slot far exceeds what current gen GFX cards are capable of. Future-proofing, if you will. You are perfectly fine running the GTX295 or even a GTX1080 in a x8 slot with no noticeable difference.
