You need to clone the drive. Western Digital have a WD version of Acronis for this purpose, it's a free download. As long as you have at least one WD drive, I believe Seagate also has cloning software for download.
If you don't have one of those, you can download Macrium Reflect Free Edition Drive Image. > http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp
I bought a dockign station esata i want to copy all my files to the new hard drive so that when it plugs in the computer it will work like the old one.
OK, I will introduce two ways for you.
One way for you is to back up all your data and programs from your old hard drive, and then restore them to your new hard drive once it's been installed.
An easier way is to install your new hard drive in your computer as the master drive, and keep your old hard drive installed and change it to your slave or second drive. This way you can copy all of your files and data from your old hard drive to your new hard drive. Plus, you get to keep your old hard drive for more hard drive storage.
