Hi everyone,
I just sold my His ATI Radeon HD 4850! the reason was that i couldn't get playable Fps in some of the
games at 1680x1050 resolution with high settings AA on etc. So i decided to buy EVGA gtx 260 core 216 SC edition, below is the link
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130433
But since the release of Nvidia gtx 275 & ATI radeon HD 4890, I'm now really confused what to buy. I also read most of the
reviews i-e Anandtech, guru3d, tom's hardware & a few more! What i saw was that Nvidia gtx 275 performed alittle better
than Ati 4890. So i thought to go with 275, but MAN it costs very high. I have been waiting since 2weeks now & still the prices are the same.
One of my friend told me that Evga gtx 260 core 216 (the above one) will perform the same as the 275 or the 4890.
Now I'm more confused in these 3 cards.
Please help me decide between these 3 cards, your help will be very much appreciated!
My system specs are:
I personally thinking of buying GTX 275 since I have sli on my mob, the Ati is not concidered for me but its very good choice, the 260 is in the shadow of 275 which is good and bad point. In couple of weeks the 260 price should drops since there is new model of 275, however in testes 260 was better value of money for performance, but if you need graphic card now I would recommend Zotac 275 Amp version (oc)
I would wait for a pice drop for GTX260. IMO it is not worth the extra cost compared to the increase in performance. You can easily OC a good GTX260 card to 280 levels and save alot of money. Of course you wont get the extra numbers of stream processors but still get a good amount of extra power.
Have a look at the Gainward GTX260 golden sample. it has a aftermarket cooler so OCing that card will be a breeze.

Yes i also want to get Nvidia card as i really experienced bad things with ATI which were bad drivers, bad temps, not very OCable etc. & most of the games are based on Nvidia GPU, so i guess i should go with nvidia, either 275 or 260.
*update* Go ati card since it seems like your mobo supports crossfire.
Man i have been saving since 1 month, & rite now I'm using Nvidia 8500gt (for time being) & man i can't play any games
accept for CS or Warcraft III or Dota etc, but can't play new games which means i'm pretty fed up but i can wait for 3 more weeks for the price drop of 275 !
Yes both nvidia and ati have there issues but ati came along way with much improvement. Im not pro ati nor nvidia. What ever offers me better price/performance.
The gtx275 cost 260$+. while you could get 2 4870s for almost the same price but for much more power, since you have an cf motherboard. Well its up to you i would chose over 2 4870 then 1 gtx275. How much is the price expected to drop for the gtx275?

I think it will go to 230$ as rite now ati is. Well i still have time, i mean that as i mentioned i can wait for atleast 3 more weeks.
-a little more vram
-faster memory and core clocks
-far more stream processors
it is a little cheaper too but not enough to really matter
Yea man i just read a review about 4890 in cananuncks.com or what ever the site's name is, they really showed how
well 4890 made up with 275, infact it even out performed it, & with OCed it out performed 285 in vantage or 06 can't remember but it was impressive.
I guess time will tell which card to choose, if ATI will reach 200$ then ATI it is
