Building a new comp with only 325$ to spend, already have a case and psu (600w )

Heres what i have come up with that would be able to run crysis 1280 x 1024 dx 9

mobo - JetWay JXBLUE-N78V AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8100 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813153121
Pci express 2.0 slot can do phenom

Cpu - AMD Phenom 8650 Toliman 2.3GHz 3 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Triple-Core Processor - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103253
Cheapest phenom ( i read that athlon 64 x 2 wouldent be good enough and the cheapest core 2 on newegg is 115$ no way)

Video card - SAPPHIRE 100265HDMI Radeon HD 4830 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102822
(best card for 90 bucks)

ram - Kingston 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory (x 2) - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134487 - only need 2 gigs of ram gonna be running xp, really no need for more( i know this for fact don't bug me to get 4 gig xD)

Hdd - Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200AAJS 320GB 7200 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136098

cd rom reader - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135176

I just wanted to make sure, will this build work? already have case and psu will be running windows xp 32 bit. Any way to shave off the price without losing performance? I already know for 40 dollars more i can get 4850, 40 dollars is not a small amount in this case.

I would do this instead:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.165025
(this is more expensive but this CPU is so much better than that one you are looking at, and on the best AMD chipset, which will allow you to add another GPU when you get more money).

If you can't afford that, then do this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128357
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116072
(this is a core 2 CPU, but its just branded with the Dual Pentium name, it uses the same wolfdale processing cores of the E8500. You can overclock it very high because it has a 12.5 multiplier, which is the highest multiplier of any Intel CPU, save for the i7's. If you overclock it will match or beat the performance of those $200 chips.)

Get more and better ram for the same price after rebate:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184

This HDD is faster and only a few bucks more:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136074

You should also get a CPU cooler so you can overclock that E5200 better, although it can do 3.2ghz or so on stock cooling

If he wants to play Crysis then any CPU he gets he will need to overclock, and the E5200 overclocks much better, which is why I would chose it instead. Running at stock speeds though, you are right.

Can anyone link benchmarks comparing Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz and the phenom i posted.
Also would it bog down a gtx 9800+ , and if so what about radeon 4830?

Its tough to say if that is a good deal or not...open box items were returned, most likely because there was something wrong and they may be missing parts that you need. A cooler needs the mounting brackets/mounting pins and a fan in addition to the heatsink itself. You may have a great deal there, or you might just be wasting your time and have to return it. Its possible though that someone bought it and then found a better cooler so they just returned it and you have a very lightly used and perfectly good heatsink for cheap.

btw that mobo (GIGABYTE GA-G31M-ES2L LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail) doesn't list pentium dual core as compatible although its lga 775 socket and core 2 duo architecture, that doesn't matter right? also only comes with 1 sata cable and both cd drive and hdd are oem lol

For this budget range you will get more form the 5200 than you will from the 7750.
The 4830 overclocks pretty well also (some have them near 4850 speeds) but Crysis takes advantage of nvidia hardware better and you will see possibly a 20% difference in framerate with a 9800 gt vs. 4830

If you buy the HSF from ebay, you will very likely need to buy some thermal compound, as any original has probably been used, smeared, or removed completely. The mounting pins may also be damaged. You can buy new sets of those pins, but they're still a grinch to replace. In the end, you will have spent more (if only in time and trouble) than buying it new.

I disagree with that...its not a 20percent difference in any benchmark i have seen

to the OP...why dont you go with the Phenom II x3 710 for 124 dollars
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103648&Tpk=x3%20710

its not a black edition but still overclocks extremely well and is much more powerful then any of the other Cpus mentioned here except off course the x3 720
get it with a cheap 780g chipset and you have a system that would last you a good long time.

here..

Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200AAJS 320GB -49.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136098

SAPPHIRE 100265HDMI Radeon HD 4830 512MB -89.99 after MIR = 74.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102822

CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 -44.99 after MIR= 19.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145184

1. AMD Phenom II X3 710 2.6GHz Socket AM3 95W Triple-Core Processor Model HDX710WFGIBOX - Retail
2. BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX 128M AM2+/AM2 AMD 790GX HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail - combo 189.99 after MIR = 179.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.165023

so the total is 381 (including taxes and shipping) - MIR = final price $331.
6 dollars above your budget, but u get the latest gen. hardware for a low price.
although u wont be using 4gb with 32bit OS, still its so cheap why not just get and when u upgrade your OS, u'll have one less thing to worry about updating i.e your RAM.

PS. I realized I forgot to add optical drive to it..kindly add the dvd burner mentioned above by another forum mate.
