Mobos and Gpus

does matching up the manufacturer for the Mobo and Gpu have any impact on performance/stability/compatablity?

None that Ive seen. Even exclusive SW (voltage regulation on the gpu for example) are used by the gpu, and doesn transfer to mobo usage, tho some mobos are better for perf than other also

Nope, not one bit.
Any motherboard with a PCIe 16x slot will run any PCIe GPU out there with no issues.

If you can, you'll want to stay in the same tech generation, ie 2009 mobo with 2009 GPU/CPU. Some older motherboards might say pci-e x 16 but there are issues with newer cards.

To add just a bit more detail,even mixing chipset manufacturers (AMD/ATI, Nvidia, Intel) has no impact on performance. Tom's did an article a year or so ago testing ATI cards on Nvidia chipsets and Nvidia cards on ATI chipsets, and comparing those to Nvidia/Nvidia and ATI/ATI combos. There were no real differences in the scores. So, feel free to use whatever you want in whatever you want.
