I have just bought the Gigabyte EX58-UD5 mobo and before installing it, I took a look at the manual. When I came across the section about SATA and RAID configs, I got kinda confused.
They say that if you are setting up HDD's in RAID, you have to use their RAID drivers during the Windows installation. I might be setting up a RAID in the future, so I might as well follow that procedure right now.
Now I'm wondering, is it really neccesary to do that? In the past I just installed Windows without using any other drivers and when the OS booted up for the first time, I inserted the mobo DVD and installed all included mobo drivers. Can I do the same thing with this mobo?
I think they're saying that you only have to do that if you're installing windows onto a raid array but I'm not sure.
Any help on this would be really appreciated. You might want to take a look at the manual yourself which can be downloaded at Gigabyte's website.
