Hey I want to build a new gaming rig and am wonder for around $350 with a little room to stretch what Graphics card would give me the best performance and quality. This is the rig it would be going into http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applicat [...] =B69-1054.

Right now I am considering a few cards.
1.4890 and add another one in the near future
2.GTX 280
3.Two 9800gtx's in SLI. add another later on and have 3 in sli
4.GTX 275

The card would be running at 1680x1080 for resolution the goal is to get maximum performance but also with good quality. I would also like to hear suggestions of other cards and manufacturers.

I'm wondering if anyone has ever come up with an idea to employ some popup message that says "post resolution etc" or don't post at all...

.... :sarcastic: none of those cards will work for your non existent resolution....

Also you shouldn't buy a prebuilt pc...costs more and you get less of a selection

The GTX280 is too expensive for its performance.
The 9800 route is a waste, even in tri-SLI it wo n`t tax your i7 CPU.
The HD4870 (1Gb) or GTX260 is the minimum single card I`d suggest but sourcing a second at a reasonable price in a years time might prove difficult.
For price/performance it has to be the HD4890 but bear in mind this card can be noisy under load.
I`d say, given what I`ve already written, is get the GTX275 and SLI later if need be, it`s quieter than the HD4890 and is slightly faster.

Thats not the exact PC that was just for refrence Im just leaning more towards a P6T with a 920 i7 and GDDR3 at round 1600mhz and as for resolution Id be runnin 1680x1050.

Ya I do like the idea of the GTX 275 but the core and memory frequencys on the 4890 are a decent amount higher and has more potential for overclocking
