Boot up problem

I have a problem with my pc sometimes it will detect my hard drives and sometimes it wont.

I boot my system and press tab to view the post information stuff. And it eithers goes Auto-Detecting Sata 1 & 2 and if i wait it wont detect and it will just do nothing, and i have to restart my system numerous amounts of times till it dectects them.

Any Ideas anyone?

Motherboard: Asus P5Q
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0Ghz
Memory: Crucial Ballistix DDR2 6400
Harddrive 1: WDC 160GB
Harddrive 2: Maxtor 80GB

Either the hard disks aren't properly connected, or there's an issue with your motherboard. Go over your hard disks connections please.

I've checked my hard drives now, and it was my main hdd which is faulty the cables are fine,etc just that sometimes the hdd works and sometimes it doesnt so ive backed up the files and bought a new segate hdd :)
