I've been getting bad scaling in a couple games lately (Fallout 3 and Far Cry 2). The SLI indicators are telling me that my cards spend a lot of times idling (and it costs me fps over single card mode) which is a sign of cpu bottlenecking. Vantage and Crysis show good scaling with the indicators though my CPU score is lower in Vantage than I think it should be (12 -13 000). I'm stumped. Most games are great some are costing me FPS in SLI though I see others seeing benefits.

Could a Core2Extreme-Quad Core @ 4GHz bottleneck 2 measly GTX280s?

lol...of course not you silly goose.

Your problem isn't with the CPU...maybe software or other hardware.

That is a pretty good CPU. I mean, it doesn't have the memory bandwidth of an i7, but still it is no slouch. Maybe try some other drivers and tweaking of game/driver settings.

I've been uninstalling, sweeping and reinstalling drivers. Looking everywhere for anwers and getting only other with similar problems but no resolution. I just can't think of what the problem could be.

No it would not bottleneck.

Anyone have any clue other than drivers (which I've tried multiple of) could cause SLI to only function for certain programs when realistically all the programs I'm using are SLI supported?

Would a Q9550 @ 3.2GHz/ 8Gig 1066 DDR2 bottleneck an EVGA GTX 275 SuperClocked?

Not even close. Even if you had 3xGTX275, you'd be fine.
