Hey guys, I'm knew to this forum but it's been VERY helpful from google searches over the last year. Anyway onto the question.

I'm just about to raid my mums computer because all her stuff inside is basically s***. BUT she has a 9800GT which is better than my overclocked 9400GT which I bought on a tight budget. She gave me permission to switch them.

But I have a question, will the 9800GT be different to the ones you can buy nowadays? Because she got hers early '08, when just after it came out, and I got my 9400GT a couple of months ago. I heard the 9800GT's in 2008 were basically overclocked 8800GT's?

SO basically I want to know if her older 9800GT will still be able to run the games I play without faults like Crysis etc. And if theres any difference with the newer 9800's compared with the earlier ones. Any help would be appreciated!

P.S My other components are good enough to handle it, such as PSU and case being big enough and stuff.. so don't worry about that.

9800GT was basically an 8800GT right down to the bone. OC'd version? Hardly...

It will run whatever you're playing now better than the 9400GT without question. The 9800GT hasn't really changed at all. I am unaware of any 9800GT's using the 55nm core, as they were used on the late versions of the 9800GTX+ and it's reincarnation known as the GTS 250 (again, identical just like the 9800GT and 8800GT).
