hello i am trying to set up a home network between a windows xp and a windows 7 rc first off is this possible? second here is my hardware

3 cat 5 cables

1 speedstream 4100 b dsl modem

1 gigafast ee410-r dsl router

1 windows xp with 1 intergrated eathernet port

1 windows 7 with 1 intergrated eathernet port

i can get internet with both of them but i dont know how to share a printer and play on a lan network can you guys help me

Yes you can network the computers.
Any files, folders or printers that you wish to share must be shared in Windows.
And permissions set up to allow the other computer or user to connect.

Google is a great resource for this information.

In LAN games, the computer needs to 'talk' to each other. Try pinging the other computer by it's IP address and see what happens.
Most likely if it can ping the other computer, your LAN game should see the other game nicely.
