I'm currently designing a computer and i'm wondering which one of these two processors would be best for me. They are both in the approximate price range i'm looking for. I'm looking for something that will be able to play the latest games and also last a few years without being overly outdated.

All help is appreciated.

To be honest, for gaming I would lean towards the X3 720 over the X4 810.

E8400, E8500 will easily hit 4Ghz on air and 4.5GHz on water. I'd pick it for games over the amd.

i have the Phenom II X4 810 and it does fine for me at stock speeds, but right now the 940 would be a good bet for only 20 more
