If I overclock the AMD Phenom II X6 1090T to 4ghz, will the stock fan be able to efficiently keep it cool?

Thanks, and Yes, New :)

no... get a solid after market cooler for 4Ghz OC... you can choose from a variety depending on budget... also give your full specs so that we can recommend...

Well I think I've changed my mind on going with the six core because I probably won't make use of all of it. Probably going with the 4 core.

excellent case choice... just enough fans to take you through to your OC...

ok lets do a simple math... 206mm wide case, minus 30 for mobo@ cpu clearance, that gives you roughly 175mm clearance (provided you dont go for the optional side fan)... so height of any good air cooler is no problem here...

The gskill ripjaws you mentioned dont have tall heatsinks... so that shouldnt pose a problem with a majority of coolers...

The cooler recommendation for your spec will be the Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme (Item#: N82E16835154011)... My ultimate recommendation would have been the thermalright silver arrow but your mobo is not compatible... keeping this in mind and other similar products, the tower 120 offers great clearance to mobo heatsinks and also ram heatsinks...

Thanks for the information. I'm new to the cpu build game. Could you explain why my mobo is not compatible with the thermalright? Thanks.

where are you now in terms of your build, do you have any hardware or just researching.?

Thanks Moto.
I'm researching to make sure I have everything how I want it. I should place the order in a week/2.

the case is fine for ATX board and the GPU... I would prefer the HAF since its a bit more roomier but the 900 is also cool...

I like the Antec 900 case (have 3).

Upside: excellent cooling, pretty quiet with case fans set on LOW. In my case, running the case fans on anything higher than LOW did not improve my temperatures. Good thing too; with all case fans set on HIGH, it sounds like a freakin' vacuum cleaner setting on the desktop.

Downside: cable management is aweful. I modded my cases:

If your budget will stretch to it, I suggest the 902 instead. or perhaps one of the CoolerMaster cases in your budget.

Definitely not a toolless design.

Tossup: Steel case. Strong. :)  Heavy. :(

The Antec cases do not come with a case (system) speaker.
