External HDD Not Showing?

Hello,
i have an external drive that a buddy of mine copied all of my music from my ipod (not itunes but actually from my ipod)to cause my old macbook crashed and i wanted to still have all my music. he said he copied everything no problem and now im trying to load it all onto my roommates computer... its running windows, but i thought it would still at least recogonize the device. when i plugged it in the little message at the bottom right of the screen popped up and said "drivers successfully installed" or whatever. but i cant find the drive anywhere on the desktop or in "my computer" any ideas?

Start -> Run -> diskmgmt.msc

Check if it has a drive letter if not assign one the drive should appear there. Otherwise check on another computer make sure the problem is isolated on this PC.
