I was wondering whether pcie 2.0 x8/x8 is any slower than pcie 1.1 x16/x16. pcie 2.0 is supposed to have double the bandwidth of pcie1.1. How would this effect the performance of 2 HD 4850s in CF?

with all the cards out right now, the difference in performance between PCIe 2.0 and 1.1 is negligible. And also, the difference between running CF/SLI at x8/x8 and x16/x16 is also very minute, and doesn't make a noticeable difference.

Basically you'd be getting the same bandwidth. There may be small (and I mean very small) differences due to latencies, but not a whole lot.
