I'm thinking about build my first computer, this computer will be for gaming, so I want the opinion of people about it.

I don't really care if it is AMD, or Intel, i just care if it is a good processor and if does what I want it to do.

My options by what I was looking are:
-(1)AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103674
-(2)Intel Core 2 Quad 6650
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115130
-(3)Intel i7 920
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] k=i7%20920
or at my last option a (4)Intel Core 2 Duo E8500(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115036)or if there is another cpu that it can also be good for games but about the price of $300 or lower let me know!
I want to overclock it so, answer me saying each motherboard should I get!=D

for the (1) I was thinking about the ASUS M4N82 Deluxe AM3/AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA nForce 980a SLI AMD Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131383
for the (2) and (4) I was looking at the
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128358
FOR THE (3) I don't know

should I get a better cooling for the cpu, or the one that came with it can handle that and the overlock for about 3.8ghz,4ghz, or something like that?

besides that my computer would be

-Antec Nine Hundred "http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021"
- 750 GB SATA Hard Drive "http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136359"
-Saphire ATI 1GL Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 "http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102801"
-CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V "http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006"
-HP Black 22X DVD+R 12X DVD-RAM SATA 22X Multiformal DVD Writer"http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827140040"
-G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 034;"

If you want to say about the others components of the computer, because I just want to build a really good computer, so if there is something wrong or that could be better, in the same average of price let me know too

thank you for all of you to take the time to read that=D

Haha missed that.

Get the X4. X4 and I7 run neck and neck when it comes to gaming. Only reason to go with an I7 over it is in Apps and Encoding where the I7 is up to 50% faster because of hyperthreading.

The 955 is a waste in the eyes of everyone in the Amd word. Get the 940 instead, Get 4GB of DDR2 1066 memory,

This Motherboard

Better cooler is a must. 940 will easily go straight to 3.8Ghz. This is a good one i've used before

955 is AM3, 940 is AM2+. Both have an unlocked multiplier and will overclock the same.

If he's in the US marketplace, saving $60.00 on Combo deals might change that a bit.

955 has both ddr2 & ddr3 memory controller, 940 only has ddr2. ddr2 or ddr3 makes very nominal performance difference.

The multiplier's are unlocked on both chips. All you need to do is change it on the 940 and it'll run the same speed as the 955

The performance difference isn't from core speed - it's from the 955s ability to run DDR3. If you run memory limited apps, that can make a noticeable difference.

He said it was for gaming, so the ddr3 or ddr2 shouldn't make much of a difference.

True. I was just pointing out that the minor performance difference mentioned above had absolutely nothing to do with core speed.

If you building from a scratch, go with I7920 , cheapest board & 6GB ram you could find.

Gigabyte x58 mb & patriot ddr3 1600 ram doesn't work together... I've tried...

dont get the 4770. the 4850 is cheaper, MUCH cheaper, and performs a little better

you'll save $30 PER card, and you can put that extra $60 towards the 955 and some ddr3 ram
