Hey forum,

I just picked up a new OCZ Vertex 2 60 GB SSD, ran a fresh install of Windows 7 Professional, did all the little tweaks for more performance. Then I ran Crystal Disk Mark and here are my results:

Do those seem like good results?

Also HWMonitor is showing my SSD with a temp of 1 degree Celsius...

Good deal, INJOY. ?? Did you install the Intel RST driver?
Here are mine for Pheonix Pro 128 Gig, Pheonix Pro and Vertex-2 are very similar. I know that the 120 gigs generally perform slightly beter than their 60 gig counterparts.

Except for the Seq Write and 512K writes – very similar
However the Seq and 512 reads and writes are LOW. I’m currently using the default uSoft AHCI driver. I did a clone from my Intel 80 Gig SSD, Should be using the Latest Intel RST driver (Ver 9)., which means I’ll have to do a clean install using the F6 during install.

Seq………..178.2…….142.0
512K……….174.2…….140.9
4K……….…..20.43…...61.29
4K (QD32)..22.59…..82.04

Ignore the temp reading, it's invalid

No, I didn't use the Intel RST driver, do you have a link? I made sure the firmware was the latest and let Windows do its thing.

Your Pheonix Pro seems to smoke the Vertex 2 in Sequential Write though :(

By the way, I got mine for $150 from Canada Computers In-store.

Link For Win 7 64 Bit (has both the F6 and regular). You need to do the F6 during the win 7 install.

Quick update, ran the Windows Experience Index Assessment for fun, here are the results:

Processor: 7.4
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE @ 3.8 GHZ @ 1.3715 V

RAM: 7.5
G.Skill 1600 MHz Ripjaws 4GB (2x 2GB) @ 7-8-7-24 @ 1T

Graphics: 7.4 / 7.4
Dual ATI 5750 @ 870 MHz / 1300 MHz

Primary Hard Disk: 7.1
OCZ Vertex 2 60 GB SSD

Other Information:
Motherboard: M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
Secondary HDD: WD 1 TB Black 64 MB Cache

I also ran 3DMark06 and got a score of 20111 3DMarks

(1) Manuf specs for 120 gig Pheonix Pro and Vertex-2
Sequential Access - Read: up to 285MB/s
Sequential Access - Write: up to 275MB/s

(2) WIE for HDD, mine about the same as yours, 7.2 Note: this is also low. My Intel 80Gig G2 was 7.8 (Fresh install, My Torqx (in laptop) was 7.3. This puppy (and yours) should score at least 7.8. Looking at newegg reviews, manuf response on low Seq read/writes was - Need to use Intel's RST driver.

Damn, so I might need a complete re-install then. What's this F6 option during install? When installing Windows 7 I don't remember seeing one. And where do I put the file during the installation process, a USB drive?

Have not done it with Win 7. There should be a screen asking if you need to load additional drivers. With win 7 should be able to place them on a USB thumb drive.

Once you have win 7 installed, then click on the RST setup file.

Will also probably do this week-end. - UGH, have to reload all my programs.

Not sure how much performance gain outside benchmarks as The small file random are where they should be. Seqencial file is less importaint.
