i would take a look into the Phenom II X4 940 if u don't already have your heart set on the Intel, other wise looks good to me. also, tell us how that CoolIT System works out for you

I would change the mobo to either the gigabyte EP45-UD3P or the Asus P5Q-Pro. They will be more stable for your OC. I would also change the hard drive to this one.

Overall it looks good.

Either get an E8500, Q8300 or go with the PII 940. From what you describe you would be better off with the dual core for now.

Avoid the 750i chipset. If you feel you must SLI, then spend more and get an X58 board and an i7. If not, then buy a good P43 or P45 board.

If you intend to push your FSB beyond 400Mhz, then get this RAM:

Otherwise, all you need is this:

Better voltage. Better timings.

You can get the same cooling performance from a far less expensive part:

But if you just want the cooler for the looks or novelty I suppose that's fine ;)

+1 for Proximon

Give the PII 940 BE a good look, its a very good chip at a great price for gaming rigs. Do not get an Nvidia chipset, they have lots of problems. Look at this combo:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.165047

Also don't get that seagate drive, seagates have a lot of issues these days. Get this one instead:

I would just get this ram, its very good with low timings and voltage and a very reasonable price:

@Clarck: eh?

@OP: To be honest I'd wait and save a bit more, then build an i7 rig. It wouldn't cost much more and would piss all over this build

Good advice from proximon and xthekidx.

Consider carefully the issues with SLI.
SLI/crossfire has been a poor upgrade path in the past. It should be used only by
those who will not currently be satisfied by the fastest available single vga card
which is currently the GTX295. The 4870, or GTX260-216
offer very good performance for the money now.
To get SLI. you have to spend more up front for a SLI capable mobo,a
more powerful SLI capable PSU, and better case cooling. Upgrading a single card later with a
second equal card does not get you 2x increase, it is more like 1.3x to 1.8x depending on the game.
At that time, you will still be paying top dollar for a card that is closer to
being obsolete.
It would be better to sell the old card and use the proceeds
towards a better new generation single card.

At a clock rate of 3.0 or better, the vga card is much more important for gaming than the cpu.
At that level, overclocking is good for bragging, but it will not net you as much increase
in FPS as a better vga card will. Today, very few games can make use of more than two cores.
Flight simulator X and supreme commander are exceptions. It is not a trivial matter to code multi threaded programs,
and game vendors will not sell too many games that require quads to run.
I don't see this changing in the next couple of years.

Net: a faster duo for the increased clock speed.

If you need a quad, the i7 is the only way to go. An i7 based system will cost you about $150 more than a similarly clocked Qxxxx system, and the delta is still going down.

A air cooled system will cost less, and be more trouble free than a liquid cooled system. You do not need to overclock to record levels to get good gaming.

Hey thanks for all the replies guys

Ive seen a lot of suggestions for a i7 if I do go quad so do you think there will be a big price drop on them soon?
Ive just read that a q6600 is the best for the money right now and highly overclock able. I think I'm pretty set on intel right now though,
Ive heard bad things and seen benchmarks that are negative towards the phenoms. Ive looked at the 4870 and it looks nice, but at least from the latest games
the Gtx core 216 has some better benchmarks on most of the fps games I play. Here: http://www.guru3d.com/article/top-10-games-with-radeon-4870-1-gb--geforce-gtx-260-core-216-test/6
I think you have convinced me to do air cooling instead of the liquid though and some better ram choices.
Im just thinking about a mobo with dual PCIE slots so if they make games that utilize sli i can be ready and would have spent less money, thats all.

What have you heard about the PII? I have heard nothing but good things about it, besides the fact that it can't beat the i7 yet...I really think you should consider it, but if that isn't an option for you then the Q8300 would be my next pick, as it runs cooler and has a faster FSB, and can be OC'd very easily too.
