Fast user switching

in XP I used the windows key and L, but when I do that it locks the current user, yes I can select another user, but I don't like it locking the current user, any ideas

I don't understand, why do you want the account you switched out of to not be locked? This is part of Windows' functionality, to protect the user's account when not in use.
