Recent auto updates from MS and / or Kaspersky Pure R2 have apparently blocked the XP-SP3 file search function. [?] Even the use of the file finder via the START button will not work when the wildcard ('*.) is set. Only when a specific and accurate file name is provided is the file name provided in the right pane. ~ Most times the search routine is used to locate a file when the ID of the fn is not accurately known. The desktop search function from XP closes with the Unexpected error message. This problem became apparent in the last several days.

Got a restore point to go to before the updates ? Got a Win CD to execute a repair function ?

We had to delete Kaspersky Pure R2. It distroyed our earlier XP Backup restores and blocked most user functions (*.EXE) as well as a verious overall slowing of the entire PC and networking functions. Recovery is rather difficult, but after extensive Admin functions having to reset many Global and Local Security settings. Our PC operations here have been restored to it former high performance!

We CANOT recommend this K* Software for general PC users in the schooling enviroment!

Don't know where you got "K" from, but the legitimate does not do that.

Glad your have it back to where it belongs.

I hate using that phrase " Glad you got it sorted out", so will not use it !

Hi; Got the Boxed original "K- Pure 2011 via Amazon.com. This was functional back in June 2011 but caused a general slowdown of the systems with frequent scans following most user actions. The R-2 version arrived as an automatic update, (On Line) with its features activated. This "Upgrade" may have come from someone other than Kaspersky![?] I have the orig. CD but are very reluctant to try this a second time. The R-2 version surely looks ligimate but without a proper introduction and documentation on how to nulify some of its tight security feature, I think "tenderfoot users" may not be able to recover their systems at home / school w/o outside help. Anyone that uses only one or two programs may love it as it surely keeps the work force from wandering about on the internet. Management can certainly track all user operations and even the forceful removal of the software is difficult requiring 30 to 50 minutes of Admin control. The distroying of the older XP Backup / Restore on the PC seems to indicate that the K Folks want abosute control over the users computer.
