About 2.5x the performance as 1 4890 can almost compete with 2 8800 GTs and 2 3850s can barely surpass a single 8800 GT. Yes XFX covers both thermal paste removal (if done well I might add) and overclocking, and yes XFX does kick ass.

You can expect to play any game currently available at high-max settings.

FINALLY! A smart man who knows it is good to avoid explosion prone/crappy power supplies is a refreshing change.

NO it doesnt matter. They are both of great quality.
I was split between that one and the Corsair 750 and I went for the Corsair since I got a much better deal.

Cheers

No kidding. There was a thread up here not too long ago with some guy trying to convince everybody he was running quad SLi GTX 295s with like 4 HD's, and overclocked quad and a slew of misc' stuff with a 600W PSU.

Me personally, I run my system with a Corsair 850W. Too much power is always better than not enough or cutting it close. The higher the load the less efficient the PSU is, not to mention the higher you stress it the faster youll kill it. Its a good rule of thumb to try and keep your system load under 75% of the PSU's output.

As is the blue and black one. I currently have a redo ne and a black one but use the blue one in builds all the time.

PCP&C Silencer 750 is a nice PS but with low air flow will raise internal temps 2-3 degrees. I got mine from an RMA on the OCZ stealth 600 that was noisy-woohoo.

VERY nice decision on the Power Supply and the difference between the old card/new card will be night and day. the 4890 is nice, you will be VERY pleased...

Ps. you should be able to get that E8400 up to 3.6 no problem, even with the stock cooler you will be ok, just simply up the FSB to 400 in the BIOS and make any necessary adjustments so the RAM you have runs 1:1 with the CPU. 3.6 seems to be the sweet spot for any OC...

whats safe temp tho? cuz i get like 55-60c with 3.6 i believe

It won't be as good as a 3870 x2 but it will be better then a single 4870.

Are you serious? A 4870 is 10% or more faster than a 3870 X2 and a 4890 will definitely rape the 3870 X2.

ME: 55-60c load is perfectly fine for an E8400, anything higher than 65c would be a little more questionable, but you will still be safe...

+1^ for Blood Raven. the 4890 would rape the 3870X2 with no lubricant. IMHO, the 38xx series cards from ATI was a step backwards, lol, but the 48xx series, well, that's a different story, it's truly a great architecture...

^ A bit too descriptive there but true...
