i get the feeling that 8800GT isnt so far away from the ATi card as you think? not for the money involved anyhow?

Iv heard of people coming from the 8800GT to a GTX280 and not seeing too much of a gain...

Perhaps keep the ole 8800GT for a bit longer and see what comes out in a few months...

Well the major factor that should be taken into consideration here is the resolution that you use...

And I feel any of those cards would significantly outperform the 8800GT...

Give the resolution that you play or would like to play(Obviously would be the max resolution of your monitor)...

Anything up to 1920x1200 resolution would be best with the 4890, as the GTX 285 can not justify itself at this point. At 2560x1600 the GTX 285 seems to be the better card by a slight amount, whether you would pay for that amount or not is up to you.

For that resolution, the 4890 is the best opiton...
And if possible add more RAM...
