Any RAID possible with dissimilar HDDs?

Hello,

I have two HDD's
500GB Seagate SATA 72110.12
250GB Seagta SATA 7200

Is there any type of RAID possible for certain partitions of 500GB onto 250GB drive?

All depends on the hardware / software.

Windows server will do it with software, limited to the size of the smaller partition, of course.

Most NAS devices and hardware controllers take control of the entire drive...

That's the question,

Most hardware RAID controllers, need exactly same two HDD's , they also take control of whole HDD Before OS loads.

Is there a quick and easy workaround to just RAID selected partitions only
