i recently purchased this product applied the supplied thermal paste and installed it.

fan is set to 100% however it has only resulted in a 4-5c drop over my stock amd fan


stock amd idle- 51c load- 61c
ocz idle 45-46c load 52c

my room temparature is always 30c or higher

are the temps ok or am i doing anything wrong??

my cpu is phenom II 940

Since your ambient is 9+ degrees higher than mine (and most reviewers, too), your 45-46 idle would be 36 or lower for me. That's about as good as it gets.

These coolers perform better under load than at idle, as you have seen.

If I were going to cool anything, it would be the room

and i have seen reviewers suggest not to use silicone based paste on copper heatsinks but the paste supplied with the hsf is silicone based so shopuld i get a as-5 or mx-2???

i am not too satisfied with the results i expected lower temps from the vendetta

now with prime 95 and everest spu stress test temps have shot up to 58c on a 3.4 ghz oc

ok last night i reapplied the tim supplied with the hsf .

when i tooj out the hsf i found out that i had applied too much of tim so i cleaned it and applied a very very thin layer and now temps have dropped to 56c at 100% load on all cores .

and the temp stays under 50c when playing crysis.

do you guys think applying as-5 will improve it furthur?
