Which do you use? I've used @BIOS a few times and it's been fine, but some say never to use it. Not sure if I should use it again.

If I ever have a bad flash, the backup bios on the second chip of the dual bios should automatically take over on the next boot up.

In my manual it says "For the sake of safety, users cannot update the backup bios manually".

Does this mean that once I'm using the backup bios, I can never update to a later bios version?

EDIT: Oh, I guess it means that you can't change to the second bios in case of a bad flash, other than letting the system do it itself.

Double EDIT (lol): So I just flashed it this time with Q-flash and all is well. There was a slight glitch though. After it booted into my windows desktop, the mouse froze and the computer rebooted itself. Then after it got back to the desktop again, a windows message came up saying windows has recovered from a serious error. Not sure why tbh. Oh well, at least the flash worked ok and I'll stick with Q-flash.

You can end up with a bad flash if Windows fails while running @BIOS.

After flashing the BIOS, you should load the default parameters, reboot and then set them back as per your preferences or requirements.

Yeah thanks, but I've done all that. 4 times in fact. Or I wouldn't be able to post here, lol. Well, other than from my phone.

Nice read, bilbat. This bit, omg, imagine that! :ouch:

"I had a client, back in the late eighties or early nineties actually go out of business, as they refused to listen, and swap alternating sets of backups 'off-site' - had an office fire, which 'ate' ALL their operating records systems, along with the backups! "

I'm glad you mentioned about the dual bios, I was relying on that but didn't realise it wouldn't work if I flashed with @BIOS. So glad I used q-flash in the end. It just meant ripping out my old floppy drive from my old pc, hooking it up and copying the file over. I had to search around for a floppy disc first though! I luckily escaped with the shirt still on my back having used @BIOS three times, lol.
