Fastest video card

Can I ask for help in ranking all these video cards in descending performance order?
It's very difficult to know which one is better than the other since I have been unable to find any good vga charts (and no, Tom's hardware's charts doesn't help).
I'd be grateful if anyone with knowledge could impart that knowledge unto me.

The GTS250 would top that list it is a rebranded 9800GTX+ not 9800GT

I thought I'd point out that learning the naming conventions for both ATI and nVidia cards will help most people make sense of which cards are -generally- newer and faster since this old thread keeps coming up near the top of Google searches.

Scroll near the bottom of these pages for relatively easy to understand and usually up to date charts (with examples).

Basically:

- The first number of either GeForce or Radeon cards is the generation of the card. This used to be in order but currently the newest cards are the 400 series for GeForce and the 5000 series for Radeon.

- The second number is actually the most important. It represents the category of card, the higher the number representing more powerful cards.

- The third number is the relative quality of a card within a category.

Using this system, it's fairly safe to assume, even going back two or three generations, that a significantly higher category of card will perform better. e.g. an older GeForce 8800 GT is still better than a brand new GT 440 and a Radeon HD 3850 is still better than a Radeon HD 5460.
