Hi,
Can't find any info on this problem - maybe someone here can
help.
I would like to start using the Hibernate feature with XP;
both Home and Pro, fully updated, adawre, S&D, NAV,
spyblaster, etrust firewall, etc. etc. on both machines.
Both machines have the same problem: Upon returning from
Hibernation, all looks fine and almost everything works
except:
When I go online (dialup) everything connects OK but OE
and/or IE and/or Newsgroups will return the "server not
found" message. Which ones don't work varies with the set
of my lips, so there is no pattern I can find other than two
of them almost always won't work. Of the 3 mentioned, email
usually, not always works, with the others more likely to
not work.
A simple Restart fixes everything first time every time.
Sort of makes Hibernation useless if I'm going to check
mails and go to the groups.
I've been diddling around with this issue for some time to
no avail. Everything else seems to work OK after returning
from Hibernation. I just realized I don't know if Standby
has the same problem or not because I haven 't bothered to
use it lately, but Standby used to work; just haven't used
it lately.

Hello
Hibernation was designed in the Windows OS's to be used with laptops to save
on battery, every experience I have seen with using it on a desktop has led
to one problem or another, my daughter uses it on her laptop and has no
problem at all with it just push the start button and it is back up and
running where you left it. Do not know why that is the case, Have talked to
MS tech about it and they could not shed any light on it, they are the ones
that told me it was designed for laptops.
Maybe someone else can offer a better explanation.

I've seen this problem, but I can usually fix it with a Refresh or I
close IE and restart it and then it works. I don't have to restart XP.
