I plan on building a new computer in about a month or so, but I saw a good deal on a hard drive and picked that up yesterday.

Im running XP on my computer now and my plan was to put in the new hard drive, make a partition for windows 7 + apps and another for data.

Am I going to run into any problems making these partitions on an XP machine, transferring data to the data partition (while leaving the OS + apps partition empty) and then popping this hard drive into my new build and installing windows 7 on the first partition?

Also, I read that windows 7 has a built in feature to resize a partition (pretty sure you need a 3rd party app to do that on XP), any chance since the partitions were made on a XP machine there would be any trouble resizing the partitions with windows 7 down the road?

Thanks in Advance.
