I just got a second hand Seagate 160GB hard drive. It was installed in an older Windows XP machine and formatted to 127 GB. I now have it in external hard drive enclosure running it on my Windows Vista machine. It is still only formatting to 127 GB instead of the full 149. The pins are set so that it is a master hard drive rather than a slave. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong or why it is doing this? Thanks.

Have you tried reformatting it? You're correct in saying that you should have around 145-149GB available when the hard disk is properly formatted. Can you also go to disk management to see if your hard disk actually has two partitions? (Windows + R, type "diskmgmt.msc", Enter)
