Hi everyone...
I'm kinda new to Overclocking and i'm going to buy my new Core i7-950 Rig and want to overclock it to 4 GHZ but i'm confused which memory to buy in terms of frequency (1600, 1800, 2000 MHZ) latency (CAS9, CAS8, CAS7), vendor (Corsair, partiot, kingston, OCZ, ...) so it would not limit my overclocking ?
please i7-950 Overclocker share your experiece on the same and suggest me the best option :hello:

keep in mind that some brands are having compatibilty issues. I have seen cosair dominator XMS3 not work on X58A-UD3R as well as OCZ having all kinds of issues.. I have founf nothign on the mushkin dimms though.. ( which i use exclusively) I have an i7 930 @ 4.3ghz and using ddr3 1600 cas 6-8-6-21. ( kinda wish I got higher clocked ram though )

ohh, that makes me worried as my Rig will have Gigabyte X85A UD3R ......
But Does Compatibility issue result in being RAM being nonfunctional on this motherboard or simply means it will have issue in dectecting the RAM timings
can you give me your Mushkin RAM model?

I know you are in the uk, I am just showing the link to show you what ram I have.

I have the X58A-UD3R as well and it is an excellent board! ppl are having issues with corsair XMS3 and some dominator models and OCZ also is hit or miss. i have seen noone have any issues with the mushkin redlines, silverlines, or blacklines ( i have the redlines)

You can throttle back your stats to reach a 4Ghz clock speed with just about any memory. I didn't know any better and bought crap when i built my i7-920, and still reached 4.2 Ghz.

Look for a combination of high speed (1600 or higher), voltage under 1.65v, latency lower than 9. Here is some G-skill that I am currently looking at: G.SKILL PI 6GB for $160.
