Is anyone familiar with this problem?

On my brand new Dell Axim x50v, I can listen to large mp3 files, rewind to
the beginning, move to the next or previous sound file, but I **can't move
within the file**. The slider doesn't work (paused or not, the slider bounces
back to the beginning), and the Fast Forward option doesn't work either. I've
even reassigned the FF button, but it doesn't do any good.

Dell has no ideas.

Anybody?

Are you *sure* it's an MP3 ? Also, have you tried BetaPlayer yet ?
http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/download.html

It caters for a much wider range of content, particularly MP3, MP4,
AVI and other formats which WMP only supports through extended
transcoding .... it's one of my favourites - free and weighs in at
500k, you can park the .exe on your memory card ;-)

Cheers - Neil

Yes, it's definitely an MP3. I've been playing them on my old Jornada for
ages, and they operate just fine. I xfered the files over to my new Axim
(with upgraded WMP) last night and it chokes on them.

Thanks for the suggestion. If I can't fix the problem I'll try BetaPlayer.
I'd rather fix WMP than load more software if I can avoid it.

Thanks!

WMP is lobotomized when it comes to MP3's, a format
that directly competes with MS's proprietary WMA.

MS has NO incentive to make MP3's work correctly.

I gave up and went with GSPlayer long ago, all my
MP3 problems went away...
