After playing a game for 20 to 25 mins the sound starts to crackle and progressively get worse to the point that the video starts to stutter. I tried reinstalling the driver at the request of the Gateway Support tech but that didnt help. Any ideas? The sound card is built in to the motherboard.
Which game is this? Does it have an option to disable digital audio?
Does this also happen with other games? Given that your video's also affected, I'd also suggest you update you video card driver if you haven't done so.
One more thing. If the computer sits idle for awhile and I try to watch a video or even listen to music, the sound starts crackling and popping until it gets so bad I have to reboot.
I'm using onboard sound and a dedicated video card.

same problem here and i too have a LX-6810. swapped audio drivers even rolled back some, but the problem constantly comes back. If i restart the computer and/or shutdown, the problem goes away but comes back later on.
