Two Asus 24" lcd monitors, 1920x1200 resolution
I'm going to use this pc for Hi Def video editing across the two 24" Asus lcd monitors at 1920x1200 each and want to use a single Asus HD 4870 512kb video card which has two dvi outs to pan across one large 'desktop'.
I won't be using this system for games !
If the 4870 isn't good enough, what's an alternative with dual dvi outputs that will drive two 24" monitors side by side configured as one large desktop? I want to keep the cost of the video card around $160 or less.
Thanks in advance for any help and/or suggestions.
@ cappaj1: I`d get the 1Gb card, I think the extra memory is going to come in handy during replay.
And I`d suggest a second drive, it wo n`t take long to fill one if you do a lot of editing.
Thought Id piggy back onto this. Im planning on running 2 monitors, one is a 24" at 1920 and the other is undecided. In fact There might be 2 smaller screens instead, so a total of three screens. In addition I also want to hook up my plasma just above my monitors. So I ran across some Saphire 4850x2(i think) with 4 DVI outs that I think would fit the bill just right. What im wondering is why does no one else make 4 DVI out cards? I only really desire the thing to game on one screen, I just want a lot of outputs. Im wondering if I would be better off getting better cards and doing Xfire with 2 cards with 2 DVI outs each. I like the idea of the 4XDVI because I could xfire later on if I wanted to, while having all the outputs from the start.
Can X fire support more than 2 monitors? What should I do??
I am going to try and upgrade this summer using AM3 platform.
