From my understanding, the new Phenom II CPUs are the same size as the AM2+ socket CPUs, so the same coolers should work right? It's just that I can't seem to find any AM3 specific coolers, so I just want to make sure that it would still work to use an AM2+ cooler.

And just as an extra question, do you think the fan that the AMD Phenom II X4 comes with is good enough? I would probably be pushing it a bit, playing games while listening to music, burning cds, and probably even rendering video lol.

Yes,Skt 939/AM2/2+/3 are all exactly the same physical size.
