Hey Guy

Some of you may know that my PSU blew up recently, well i have a question, can i test my gfx card without the 2 6 pin PCI-E connectors?

the PSU i have in this rig is pretty poor and does not have connectors, i just wanna see if she posts. so i can rule out that the PSU took the gfx with it.

As I understand it, the card will go into low power mode, but should still run at 640x480 256 color mode.

For some cards you can, the old ATI 9000 series for instance (possibly others), this doesn't seem to have any affect on 2D usage but in 3D it is barely usable if I recall.

The card will probably shriek at you. I'm not sure it would show anything on screen.

it should post but i doubt you will make it past the bios. Won't hurt anything either way, so give it a wirl and let us know how it goes.

It depends on the firmware of the card. For a 4870 though it probably won't even post.
