My main question is that I currently use 8GB of Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800, would there be a big improvement if I changedmy memory to DDR2 1066? and I know the big difference is speed between DDR2 and DDR3 but is it worth switching over at this time?

you would't notice a difference between DDR2 and DDR3 (let a lone DR2-800 and DR2-1066), except in synthetic benchmarks

so its not really worth upgrading to DRR3, this is unless you are building a whole new system from scratch (like Socket AM3, LGA 1156, or LGA 1366 since these need DDR3)
