Able to run Cyrsis?

Hello I am thinking of upgrading my old P4 system to a computer like this. I am wondering with these specs am i able to run Crysis or GTA4 on low or medium settings? And mainly is the CPU good enough for HD and moderate gaming? Thanks a bunch!!

The CPU will work. The video card might be lacking a bit. Most shooters on low perhaps, but I'm not sure about Crysis. Given your PSU, you can upgrade to most single GPU cards safely.

I saw a great price on newegg a while back on a 9600GT. 4670 or 4830 would fit nicely as well.

I'm not to up to date on ATI cards, but if your just looking to run on low to medium settings I know even the Geforce 7 series can do it. So I'm assuming whatever ATI is the same level as that would work too.

I can run Crisis (on mostly medium/lower medium settings) on my AMD Athlon 3500+ with a Geforce 7900 and 1 Gig of ram. Now, it requires a bit of tweaking with all the settings to find the best result, but its doable.

hmmm the Athlon range have real bad FPS in crysis even at low res and low AA. Yea a better GPU might help this but they are poor performers anyway!

I would probably go for the Phenom 2 X3 720 if you want any sort of performance in crysis.

i was able to run it on my old athlon64 3000+ with 2G ram and a geforce6800XT on 1024*768. why to play on 992560000000*8195000000 ? you won't see more on 1600*1200 than on 1280*1024 or 1024*768

None of those video cards mentioned are gonna run it worth a crap.

Id recommend at least a 5200 or 5400. Your gonna need 4gb of ram, not 2gb.

The cheapest video card I would recommend for any newer games is the HD4830 which can be had for around $75 after rebate.

What is your budget, and what resolution is your monitor? Since there wasn't one listed on your original list, do you already have a case, or do you need that too? How about the operating system?

Thanks for all your guys help I reall, really appreciate it. I already have a case and I am running Windows XP Professional as an OS. What do you guys think about a Intel E5200, instead? I'm on a budget so these are my best options. (I live in a small city, in Canada. So very little computer thinngs lol)

The E5200 is painfully slow at stock, and you'd need to use a different mobo. What is your total budget, and what sites do you use for shopping?

cpu is OK (5000+ will also do the trick), mobo is VERY ok with the ram, PSU ok, gpu ok too. the onboard hd3200 will run GREAT the hd movies. my x1250 does well with the 5000+ cpu

Thanks Helloworld_98, what do you tink of the AMD 5400+ CPU and the 5600+ CPU's, will they run crysis and hd well? I don't see much difference, 2.6ghz,2.7ghz,2.8ghz? So what are the main differences between these CPU's? Thanks

You are putting too much attention on your CPU I think. You wanted to know if your CPU could handle moderate gaming and hi def, and yes it can. It's your video card that is the problem.

If you really want a new board, get this 7750 and the combo deal with the 780G board:

Add a good after market cooler, and you can overclock the processor a good bit. That will get you good bang for the buck, or loonie as the case may be.

I more question, do you guys think i could run these builds off of a 400W power suply, it has 1 12v rail with 18A on it. I know its generic and it sucks but just a though to save some coin lol.

If you had a clear picture of the label on the PSU I could say more. Technically a true 400W PSU with at least 18A actually available would probably work, but labels are misleading and generic PSUs are often far over-rated.

I dunno how to get a picture in a post lol, so i found out the PSU is from a company called FSP Group Power. Now that i look i notice it saids +12V1 - 18A, and +12V2 - 18A
+12V1&+12V2 Combined - 348W Max

It's actually 29A on the 12V rails (348/12), and it's probably an adequate PSU. I wouldn't buy one, but I wouldn't toss it either, as long as it's worked so far. FSP is an actual OEM, meaning they make the units they sell, and are popular in some parts of the world.

it won't be huge difference, if you overclock a little bit by fsb the 5000+, it will perform just like the 5200 (i was able to overclock only by modifying the fsb to 3000MHz without any cpu voltage change or memory timing change)
