    It's all a matter of personal preference I guess. I personally use multiple hard drives in my desktop (4 all together) as a fail safe against vital data loss. However, when it comes to partitioning, it can't hurt to use one partition for vital data in case Windows messes up or you get a nasty malware bug on it and you have to do a clean install. If you want to partition your drive, just use the partition manager that is included in Windows 7 (and Vista).
