720->550->250 for all aspects you are looking to use it for. The difference in price is only considered if you are on a REAL tight budget.

Agreed with sdf.

The 720 over the 550 and 250 because of the third core

The 550 over the 250 because of the cache

The 250 because of cost

550 is actually a lot cheaper than the 710 tbh.

I would ignore the 250, nothing makes it only £10 cheaper than the 550. The only real choice is between the 550 and 710, and that one is about money, which equates to 'can you afford the 710'.

Oops, 710 not 720. The point doesn't change much, the 710 is still a fair bit more expensive than the 550. It's a difficult call.

If by a lot cheaper than the 710 means it costs $3 more than the 710 then you are correct lol. Check newegg prices .. 710 = $99.99 and 550 = 102.99

Well I'm in the uk, I can get a 550 for £65 and a 710 costs £99. Feel free to xe.com that one but the numbers themselves should probably let you figure it out.

At your very weird US prices, it's a no-brainer in favour of the 710.

Haven't seen any reviews with a good idea of the 250 Regors encoding performance. I would say the 710 may make it worth the while and might lower that encoding time a lot because its a tri core instead of a dual core thus an advantage.

Hell a quad core will do it even faster. 1.5-2x faster than the dual core will.

Depends on game. Some will like the extra clock speed of the Callisto. Others will like the extra core of the 710. The 550 though will probably overclock better than the 710 since the 550 iirc is a black edition and unlocked multi.

thanks,

which do you recommend? i primarily play games, all i really would be doing other than that is web/music/etc (apps that would not be cpu bound)
and i really dont care about the time it takes to convert music and stuff like that
