I recently bought a Club 3D HD4870 1GB, but unfortunately, there are two very annoying issues that came with it.
1) The screen seems to flicker every 5 seconds or so, because continuously the card switches from 2D to 3D mode. Ati tray tool came to the rescue, but still, I'd rather not run this application, since other users have no clue what it is :-)
2) I can't startup the pc properly. Very often, the screen just turns black after the Windows loading screen. Hence, I have to restart it 3-4x to get it going.
Do you think I should return this card to komplett.be to get a replacement? They already approved it, but I don't want to send it if, in the end, they decide it's not a GPU problem.
Also, I have seen that they no longer offer the Club 3D 4870. If I argue a bit, do you think I could get a 4890 instead? (roughly the same price)
I haven't tried reformatting, since I really don't have the time. I did reinstall all drivers (using DriverCleaner Pro) and upgraded to the latest (9.4) drivers.
What kind of power supply do you have? Maybe your short on power. If you have a good quality PSU with plenty of amps, then RMA the card. Might as well try for the 4890 if you do.
Tnx for the suggestion. It's an OCZ Modstream 520 Watt. I combined it with a OC E6600 (3Ghz) and the usual components. Guess that's more than enough for the pc?
Dude it isn't you PSU. This is a very common problem with this edition. I have 2 of these cards in 2 separate pc's . Both of them have this problem in win xp pro, it is not random and has nothing to do with other components.
I am going to RMA both of my cards and get me some other brand because this is clearly a driverissue or bad settings from the videocard for not being able to cooperate with the drivers properly.
