I've been trying to figure out for like 2 weeks why my hard drive wont boot and giving me all kinds of weird problems.

And then today i realized that i had a subwoofer next to the tower for the past year. cant believe i never thought about it being an issue... i feel pretty foolish.

so i am accepting the fact that the sub is the likely cause and i probably lost all that data.

My concern now is what else is potentially affected, ive read about the possibility of other things becoming magnetized. anyone have any knowledge about this sort of thing? for what its worth, I always kept the Subwoofer volume at zero since the speakers were enough for me.

I doubt that the sub is your problem. You had it close for a year with no issues.

Test the hard drive with the drive manufacturer's diagnostics.

If it checks out, reformat and reinstall your OS.

For your own peace of mind, find another place for the sub.

The main thing that I would worry about is your hearing.
